See the Black Hockey Players wall of fame for more info. http://www.freewebs.com/blackhockeyplayers/index.html. We’ll get there, one draft year at a time.
Though he never played in the NHL, and perhaps was just good enough to be on the bench as an alternate on your team, I believe that Alton White deserves some mention. Alton played some years in the WHA, and has the distinction of being the first black hockey player to score 20 goals in a major league season, a major league, which the WHA was at the time. During the 1972-73 season, he scored 21 goals and had 21 assists for the Los Angeles Sharks. He was a very speedy guy and a hard working player. I think retired and mover to vancouver. Another player who could possibly crack the list, sooner rather than later, is the L.A. Kings rising star, Wayne Simmonds, who is a master stickhandler and hustler, a real whiz.
Ooops, the line should read, “I think he retired and moved to Vancouver”. Sorry about that.
